Women of Note

Family Band got me through a particularly chilly winter in Halifax a few years ago with their Cold Songs EP. For me, it’s one of those records to associate with special times: nights cozied in my high-backed writing chair (RIP), glory days of rooming with my sister. Sweet tunes to accent a time and its details.

Family Band has since resurfaced with new material and a bit more buzz. The latest track, Night Song, totally chills and comes with a video + secret message. (Above: do you see it?)

Kim Krans is one half of Family Band. She is also the maker of gorgeous tarot card prints at The Wild Unknown. She also built her own cottage in the woods where musicians travel to perform and enjoy exclusive times. Woman, much? It’s enough to make one question gen-Y urban prospectives.

The new album, Grace & Lies, is available July 24th via No Quarter Records.
